COP performance (Coefficient of performance)
This is the ratio of energy in Kilo watts used by the equipment in relation to energy provided by the machine at point of use
The greater the COP the higher performance the unit has i.e lowest running costs, the Altherma range offer a COP of between 3-5 depending on application and weather conditions, which in short means for every kilo watt of electricity draw the Altherma produces between three and five kilo watts of heating or cooling.
Installation
These units can be configured to use most existing heating circuits with minimal modification the outdoor DX air source heat pump condensing assembly is compact and neat with no flues hot gases or chimneys or constant ventilation within any room required, the hydro box can be installed and replace existing emersion cylinder so generally no need to tear up carpets & flooring and turn your property upside down to benefit from these energy saving air conditioning systems, the outdoor condenser draws energy from the air passing through the machine so also no need for large ground works or bore holes as with ground source heat pumps, the outdoor system also incorporates a smart weather compensation system to allow the unit to optimise energy produced and minimise power consumed..
How it works

The outdoor air source heat pump acquires its energy from the surrounding air and raises the temperature in the heat transfer fluid into your property.

The indoor Hydro box heats the water that circulates in the radiator or fan coils units to maintain a comfortable environment, along with satisfying the heating or cooling of the house the unit also heats the domestic hot water within a purpose built cylinder within the Daikin Hydro unit.

Under floor heating circuit water flow typically around 40 degrees with a COP of between 3.6 / 4.7

Fan Coil units these units can work with at lower temperature typically 35 degrees and would be the preferable option when installation of a heating and cooling system is desired COP of between 3.6 / 4.7

Bath, showers and sinks are served with a purpose built stainless steel Hydro Cylinder which maintains water at constant temperature with added benefits of a heat boost cycle which eliminates the opportunity for any bacteria or legionella growth.
